Based on his own experience with addiction and recovery, Scott created The Foundry to
offer a unique and intensive program that is focused on treating the entire person –
mind, body and spirit. A life-long Steamboat Springs resident, Scott wanted to share a
beautiful mountain setting with others on their recovery journey.
After graduating from the University of Colorado, Scott worked at the multinational Auburn Foundry; a family-owned iron-casting manufacturing company that was started by his great grandfather in the early 1900s. While there, he gained valuable management experience including time spent at the company’s various manufacturing facilities across the globe.
Scott considers his acknowledgement of addiction and subsequent program of recovery to be his greatest life achievement. Scott credits a community of passionate health and wellness providers and a close connection to nature for helping him maintain his own sobriety. He has dedicated his life to helping others overcome addiction and is committed to providing a world-class treatment resource to help people across the region and country.
Austin brings over a decade of award-winning advertising and integrated marketing
solutions to clients around the globe. But his own experience with addiction and recovery
are what brought him to The Foundry.
Austin overcame a devastating addiction that began with prescription drugs administered after the physical and emotional trauma he experienced as a student at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo. Survivor’s guilt fueled Austin’s addiction, and his daily prescription medication usage continued to grow. After four stints in rehabilitation facilities, Austin has now been in recovery for over five years.
His experience on both the agency and client sides of marketing in addition to his own recovery led him to focus on program management and business development in the addiction treatment field. Austin's approach helps bridge the gap between the administrative and clinical functions to improve quality of care and business performance.
